Visiting Worship Sites

Today after VBS we went and visited different religious buildings. We visited an Islamic mosque, a Hindu temple, and a Sikh gurdwara. I think the most interesting was the temple. Right as you walked into the worship room, there were idols on almost every wall. There were many sacrifices to each idol, mostly bananas, and / or milk. Then we went outside and talked about what we observed. Then we went to the Gurdwara. When you walked in you took your shoes off (we did this on each one) and also put head coverings on – both men and women. Once inside there were two rooms, one to the left and one to the right. The right one was a library and the one to the left was the food hall (I forget the specific name). The food there smelled and looked very good. They cooked the food in massive kitchen pots. After we toured the kitchen we went back into the room we first entered and went upstairs into the worship room. The room was very open, with a big book in the middle of the room on a throne like stand. We sat there for five minutes and then went outside and talked again. Lastly we went to the mosque. The Imam there gave us a talk about what Islam was and what they believe. Afterwards we got to ask questions. It was a very interesting experience to see all the temples and buildings, as well as learn about the different religions and see how they worshiped.
