Our Tourist Day
So to start off the day we woke up at 6:45 to be at breakfast at 7:15. We went to a place connected to our hotel that had Burger King and a place called Costa, but Burger King was closed so we all ate at Costa (which has AMAZING coffee that I am now obsessed with). On the "tube", which is like a subway, we took the "Piccadilly Line," which I thought was quite funny, to Central London and it cracked me up every time I heard them say it. The ride on the tube was about 40 minutes long. It's kinda funny because the tube is super hard to balance on, so we all looked like ridiculous tourists trying to balance with our feet closely together. It's fun so I do not care how silly I look. We also took a double decker bus which I love and I think is so cool, another thing that makes me look like a crazy tourist. We were at the Tower of London for a while and toured some of it and went in different buildings in it. The architecture was amazing. Everyone was so hungry so we went to lunch at a place called The Kitchen. The food came so quick, which was a big plus, and was very good. Then we went to St. Paul's, which is a very nice church. Actually, one scene of Mary Poppins was shot on the steps there, so that was cool to see. A wedding was just getting out of the church when we were coming. Then we got ice cream with Jasmit, who was a tour guide from 4 years ago that got very close with the other group, and she hung out with us for part of the day and paid for our ice cream. She was so sweet and friendly. Then we went to Westminster Abbey for a service that was about 45 minutes long. It was extremely formal, and something we were not very used to, but a very good experience. Then we got lunch at Nando's. It was South African food that, I thought, tasted sooooo good. After that, we walked back to where the London Eye was and saw Big Ben. We went on the London Eye with another small group, and their kids were pretty cute. The sun was setting as we got on so at the beginning it was light, and dark at the end. Kinda cool. Pretty good timing I would say. Then I got myself a maroon sweatshirt from a souvenir shop and got Brooklyn something, HI BROOKIE COOKIE. It was very fun using pounds for the first time. Natalie told the guy who we bought our sweatshirts from that he was the first one she ever gave pounds to. He was funny, and I told him that too, but he said we would rather be called cool. So he was cool. And then we got on the tube again to go back to our hotel. We had a very eventful day that went from 7am-about 11:30pm, and we are all pretty exhausted, and have tired feet. And we probably won't get to bed until 12 or 12:30, but all totally worth it!! I just wanted to add that I have an app on my phone that tracks how far you walk, and we walked exactly 10.72 miles and 23,221 steps. WOWEE! Also, we all looked like silly photographers taking pictures of EVERYTHING! Goodnight everyone! See ya soon!!!!!
